With the Mets losing the series against the Phillies this weekend, the team has got to win, and they got to win now. Otherwise, the season could very well be over before August comes around.

This coming week, the Mets are facing the Marlins, and the Cardinals. The Mets will face a Cardinals pitching staff that is something not to laugh at.

The Amazin’s are going to have to win both these series in order for the season to remain alive.  If they are out of the hunt, GM Sandy Alderson will more than likely go on a fire sale if the Mets are too far out of the wild card hunt.  With the loss Sunday, the Mets are now 8 1/2 games back of the Braves for the wild card spot.

At this point, the piece of string (the Mets 2011 season) is now just a small thread.  They really can’t afford to make costly mistakes anymore.  If they are in to win it, they need to start winning 2 out of 3 games during both series next week.  Its going to be interesting to see how this week plays out.  All we can do is hope for the very best.
