All during the period Ryan Church was recovering from his post concussion syndrome, I couldn’t wait for him to return and help save the Mets’ floundering offense. Now that he has returned, I can’t help but wonder if he’s the same exciting player we saw in April and May, or the mediocre player he was before we got him from the Nationals.

Since returning back to the lineup on August 25th, Ryan Church is batting .224 with a .289 on-base percentage and a .342 slugging percentage. In 22 games he has two homeuns, nine RBI’s and 19 strikeouts.

It’s not exactly the kind of production I was expecting to see from Church upon his return. Luckily, he has been a huge asset on defense.
