With the season set to start in just 11 days, extension talks are becoming more and more prevalent surrounding Mets’ shortstop Francisco Lindor and outfielder Michael Conforto.

According to MLB Insider Jon Heyman, the Mets are willing to go to $300 million to lock up Lindor long term, though he says it is unclear whether they are there or not yet. Chances are, they are probably starting lower and will work their way up.

Just a year ago, Heyman mentions, Lindor turned down around $200 million to remain with the Cleveland Indians, so he could be in for a significant bump from that this time around.

Lindor, 27, hit a home run again on Sunday for the Mets, and now has three on the Spring. The Puerto Rico native also clobbered a grand slam in Friday’s contest against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Addressing the media postgame via Zoom on Sunday, Michael Conforto said that there are talks going on with the Mets about an extension, though he failed to acknowledge how deep those talks are.

“At this point, I’m pretty much just focused on baseball. I’m not really interested in speaking about the contract stuff. It’s between me, my family, my agent and the team,” Conforto said.

Like Lindor, Conforto jacked a home run in Sunday’s 6-2 win against the Nationals.

In the shortened 2020 season, Conforto owned a triple slash of .322/.412/.515 with nine homers and 31 RBI to go along with 2.2 rWAR.

“I like the people I come to work with every single day. It’s been a good place for me, I’ve grown up a lot, I’ve learned a lot, and I love the city,” Conforto said about playing in New York.
