Right-hander Noah Syndergaard will make his next start on Monday when the Mets begin a three game series against the Washington Nationals, assistant GM John Ricco told reporters in Atlanta today.

An MRI was conducted and showed that Syndergaard did not have have any structural damage in the elbow. He was prescribed anti-inflammatory medication and cleared to resume his normal routine.

Previous Report

The New York Mets released a statement that said an MRI showed that Noah Syndergaard has “no structural damage” in his right elbow.

Syndergaard was prescribed some anti-inflammatory medication and has been cleared to do his normal work routine. His availability for Monday’s start is still unclear, though.

Original Report

Noah Syndergaard left today’s game with some elbow discomfort, the team announced. According to Terry Collins, the young right-hander is being examined by the team doctor.

Syndergaard will stay behind in New York while he gets his elbow checked out by team orthopedist Dr. David Altchek. He will meet the team in Atlanta tomorrow as the Mets begin a four game series with the Braves.

It was strange to see how Collins informed reporters. After ending his presser and he started to leave, Mets PR man Jay Horwitz whispered something to him. Then came the bombshell that sucked all the oxygen out of the room…

A red-faced Collins angrily told reporters he took Syndergaard out of the game because his elbow soreness flared up, then he turned and left the media room in a huff without answering any further questions leaving everyone pretty stunned.

This is the second time in four weeks that Syndergaard is having his elbow examined. The Mets bumped him from his start yesterday, citing that they wanted to give him an extra day of rest after throwing a season high 115 pitches in his last start.

Syndergaard, 23, pitched 6.0 innings and allowed three earned runs on eight hits today, while striking out four.

More to come…
