Noah Syndergaard gave the Mets everything they could have asked for in Tuesday night’s 4-3 victory over the Washington Nationals. Thor brought the thunder on a night the Mets desperately needed to rebound from the prior night’s defeat.

Syndergaard delivered seven strong innings while giving up just one run on four hits. He would walk just one batter on the night and strike out 10. It was the most batters he has struck out in a game since June 15 when he sat down 11 Pirates on strikes.

One of those strikeouts though would be an accolade in it’s own as it was the 200th of his season when he sat down Danny Espinosa in the fifth.

“It’s just an individual accolade to me,” Syndergaard said. “It’s cool. I just try not to focus on the result over the process.” (MLB.com)

Syndergaard took the no-decision in Tuesday’s win as his record stands at 13-8 on the season with an ERA of 2.43 and a WHIP of 1.12. He has been everything and more for the Mets this season, anchoring a staff that has been decimated by injuries.

With the season he has had, it would be hard to believe that he has not earned some mention for the 2016 NL CY Young Award. Syndergaard is having an eye-opening season and living up to all expectations that have been set for the young 24-year-old star pitcher.
