The New York Mets (77-68) defeated the Washington Nationals (86-59) by a score of 4-3 tonight at Nationals Park.

Pitching:

Noah Syndergaard toed the rubber for the Mets tonight against the division foe Washington Nationals and was dominant, firing seven innings of one run ball, while limiting the opposition to four hits and struck out ten in the process.

Addison Reed pitched a clean eighth, striking out two, but Jeurys Familia came in for the bottom of the ninth, and blew a 3-1 lead forcing the game into extra innings.

Fernando Salas, with Reed and Familia gone, would get the save chance for the tenth inning, and got two outs before being removed for Jerry Blevins who retired Daniel Murphy to end the game.

Offense: 

The Mets scattered ten hits tonight, but two of the three runs were driven in by an unlikely hero in T.J. Rivera.

With the Mets down 1-0 in the third, Rivera stepped to the plate with two on, and promptly tied up the game with a base hit to left.

Curtis Granderson tripled in the fifth, and the aforementioned Rivera chipped in the third Mets run with a sacrifice fly.

After Jeurys Familia blew the save in the ninth inning, T.J. Rivera immediately gave the Mets the lead back, hitting a solo homer off Mark Melancon to make it 4-3.

On deck: 

Robert Gsellman (2-1, 3.92 ERA) takes on Tanner Roark (14-8, 2.85 ERA) tomorrow afternoon at 4:05 for the rubber game of the series.
