New York Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman was not a happy camper after Sunday’s brief contest with the Miami Marlins that was called due to inclement weather after just three batters.

As a result, Stroman’s outing lasted only nine-pitches before the umpires decided to call a delay and bring the tarp out onto the field. While umpires decide whether to stop play because of bad weather, the home team decides whether to start the game or not.

During the rain delay, Stroman took to Twitter to express his frustrations.

“This game should have never been started. Not smart at all. Those conditions put everyone at risk. Beyond happy no players on either side were injured. Hate that I have to wait another 5 days to pitch again. That’s a miserable feeling,” Stroman said.

However, Stroman said in a later tweet that he was just concerned with the safety of his teammates and opposing team which is why he thought the game should have never started at all.

Miami Marlins manager Don Mattingly opted to use relief pitcher John Curtiss as the opener — while Mets manager Luis Rojas stuck with Stroman despite the heavy rain.

The Mets-Marlins rain delay surpassed the two-hour mark before finally being suspended. The game will be re-scheduled as part of a split doubleheader on Aug. 31 at 1:10 p.m. ET.
