Sunday’s contest between the Mets and the Miami Marlins has been suspended and rescheduled for Aug. 31 at 1:10 p.m. as part of a split doubleheader. The game will resume with a runner on first and one out.

Mets’ starter Marcus Stroman toed the rubber on Sunday, but the game got just three batters deep as the inclement weather in New York soaked the field.

The umpires congregated and suspended play as the tarp was spread across the field.

The Mets, who won Thursday on a controversial hit by pitch call, had off Friday, and were shutout 3-0 on Saturday as the team’s bats remained cold.

The team is just 2-3 after the rainout, as well as their opening weekend series with the Washington Nationals being canceled due to COVID-19 issues on Washington’s side.

New York will begin a series with the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, with David Peterson set to get the bull for the first game.
