MMN‘s own Ernest Dove reports Columbia Fireflies RHP Simeon Woods Richardson has been promoted to High-A St. Lucie. Woods Richardson earned this promotion as he is 2-0 with a 1.77 ERA, 0.787 WHIP, and a 10.6 K/9 over his last four starts.

Woods Richardson was the Mets second-round pick last year, and to some, it was a surprise the 18-year-old began the year playing in Columbia. As the year has progressed, he has built up his pitch count and gone deeper into games.

As noted above, he’s currently in his best stretch of the season pitching five or more innings in each of those starts. During that stretch, he has also held opponents to a .169/.213/.239 batting average against.

The 2018 second-round pick has not walked more than three batters in a game this season, and he has walked none in half of his 20 starts. In addition, he has struck out 11.1 per nine. Overall, his 5.71 K/BB stands as the best in the Mets farm system.

Overall, Woods-Richardson has a 4.25 ERA, 2.57 FIP, and 1.21 WHIP to go along with an 11.4 K/9 rate at low-A Columbia.

In other recent roster moves Syracuse OF Tim Tebow was placed on the seven day IL. Mickey Jannis was transferred from Syracuse to Binghamton, and Matt Blackham and Braxton Lee were promoted from Binghamton to Syracuse.

Justin Lasko and Jared Biddy were promoted from Brooklyn to Columbia, and Nelson Leon was assigned to Brooklyn from Columbia. Michel Otanez was promoted to From Kingsport to Brooklyn. Colin Holderman‘s rehab assignment has been transferred from the Gulf Coast League to Brooklyn.
