We keep hearing all the raves about Sandy Alderson and about what a tremendous record of accomplishment he’s had building the Oakland Athletics into a powerhouse and then laying the groundwork for success as GM of the San Diego Padres.

His character, reputation and ability to build a cohesive smooth running environment at all levels of an organization is unparalleled.

I do have two questions for Sandy Alderson that I’d love to have the answer to if it were at all possible.

1. What are his thoughts on the slotting system and does he feel a loyalty to Bud Selig on the matter that would create a conflict of interest as general manager of the Mets who need to invest more in the draft and not be restrained by Selig’s slotting system?

2. What if anything did he know about the rampant steroid use on the Oakland A’s during his tenure as President and General Manager? (Canseco, McGwire, Tejada, Giambi, etc.)

Tough questions no doubt, but questions that should be asked nonetheless.
