El Nuevo Dia, a Puerto Rican newspaper, has reported the Mets and Diamondbacks are in talks over a blockbuster deal that would send Reyes, Beltran and Mejia to the desert for Justin Upton and Stephen Drew.

I can’t read Spanish, but I didn’t notice any other names involved in the trade (the article mentions Wright, but I’m betting in passing, not as part of any deal).

This makes perfect sense for the D-Backs, as they would likely look to flip Reyes and Beltran in June to replenish their own system. I could even see the D-Backs trying to get a third team involved immediately (Red Sox?), so Reyes and Beltran won’t ever be on their roster and won’t earn a dime of the D-Backs money.

But I’m not sure if this would make sense for the Mets.  It might, but it’s such a huge deal that requires a lot of pondering and I only just came across the article.  Let’s use the thread to bat this one around, shall we?
