According to Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic, Giants long-time coach Ron Wotus has interviewed for the Mets’ bench coach position and is still seen as a candidate.

Wotus, 58, has been spent 32 years in the Giants organization and 22 on the Major League coaching staff. He joined the big league staff as third base coach in 1998. The former big leaguer became the bench coach the next season and stayed in that role under Dusty Baker, Felipe Alou, and Bruce Bochy until 2017. He’s served as the Giants third base coach the last two seasons.

His duties on the Giants have also included overseeing shifts, infield instruction, and baserunning instruction. He won three World Series rings in San Francisco.

The Connecticut native coached for seven seasons in the Giants system starting in 1991 and his teams made the playoffs in six of them. He was twice named Manager of the Year.

Wotus joins Fredi Gonzalez and Jerry Narron as known candidates to replace Jim Riggleman as the bench coach and help guide first-time manager Carlos Beltran.
