Rich Hill threw what many are calling one of the best outings of his tenure with the Mets on Friday night against the Nationals. The left-handed pitcher from Boston threw six scoreless innings as the Mets went on to defeat Washington 6-2.

Hill gave up just three hits, two walks, and struck out four. The only jam he got into was in the fifth, when Luis Garcia hit a two-out double to put runners on second and third. He got Keibert Ruiz to pop out and hold what was a 2-0 lead at the time.

Hill ultimately came away with the no-decision after Edwin Diaz and the Mets blew the save in the ninth before coming back to win in the deciding tenth inning. His ERA improved to 3.92.

Hill threw just 85 pitches (53 for strikes) on Friday night.

As the Mets attempt to make a playoff push, they were looking for that strong outing Friday night from Hill and he gave the Mets just that and showed that he can be a playoff-caliber pitcher.
