The Mets offense, after being quiet for the last two days eviscerated Vance Worley & the Phillies behind Josh Thole’s three RBI and Jonathon Niese’s excellent outing.

Game Notes

Jonathon Niese pitched a gem today, going six and one third innings, giving up five hits and one unearned run, while walking four and striking out six. Niese didn’t have A+ control today, but he was near the zone all day, and his walks were of the 3-2, full count variety. Niese’s curveball was in full effect today, and if it weren’t for a hard third inning that required a high pitch count, Niese probably could’ve gone seven or eight.

Taylor Buchholz, not looking sharp. One and two-third innings, giving up three runs on four hits, including a home run, striking out one. Either Buchholz is fatigued, injury, or some other problem. He was lights out for the first month and a half of the season, and has been sputtering for the last week. Pedro Beato, one and one third inning, two hits, one run, one walk, one strikeout. Not anything special either. Nearly another bullpen collapse

The offense today was just bonkers. After a four run first sparked by a Jose Reyes triple, a four run second followed. The Mets had eight runs on twelve hits by the end of the third inning and everyone who started minus pitcher Jonathon Niese. The Mets offense hasn’t looked this on-point all season, because even when they weren’t scoring they were hitting the ball hard.

Jose Reyes – 4 for 5 with an RBI and a run. Two triples today for Jose. He isn’t making this decision easier.

Daniel Murphy – 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs. Daniel seems to get the idea

Jason Bay – 2 for 4 with two runs. Bay seems to be turning it around, but lets hope these singles become doubles, or home runs.

Turning Point

The Mets jumping out to a crazy lead in the first inning and never giving up.

Game Ball

The entire NYM batting order, one thru nine. They all were aggressive, found pitches to hit, ran the bases well and did everything good teams do to win games.

On Deck

The Mets will begin a home series against the Pirates. Dillon Gee will be opposing Charlie Morton. Game Time is 7:10 P.M.
