The Los Angeles Dodgers keep spending. According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Dodgers agreed to a one-year deal worth $23.5 million with outfielder Teoscar Hernández Sunday night. According to Passan, of the $23.5 million, $8.5 million will be deferred and paid out from 2030 to 2039.

Hernández opted out of his contract after the 2023 season with the Seattle Mariners. The 31-year-old corner outfielder slugged 26 home runs to go along with 93 RBIs in 2023. He posted a .741 OPS and 106 OPS+.

After opting out, Hernández made the decision to cash in on a one-year deal. Several expected a multi-year contract around the $20 million mark.

The Dodgers continue the trend of heavy spending this offseason with Hernández. Los Angeles has also handed out lucrative deals to Shoehi Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow.
