Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Angels are releasing future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols.

Angels said in a statement, “The Angels organization proudly signed Albert Pujols in 2011, and are honored that he has worn an Angels jersey for nearly half of his Hall-of-Fame career.”

Pujols, 41, was hitting just .198/.250/.372 with five home runs and 12 RBIs this year in 24 games. The three-time MVP was going to be a free agent at the end of the season and he hasn’t been an above average offensive player since he posted a 113 OPS+ in 2016.

The former Cardinals star currently has 3253 hits, 669 doubles, 667 home runs, 2112 RBIs, and 145 OPS+.

Pujols has been a 10-time All-Star, six-time Silver Slugger winner, two-time Gold Glover, and won two World Series rings with the Cardinals.

The Angels signed Pujols to a 10-year, $240 million deal back in December of 2011.
