Yet again, the Angels enter free agency looking for starting pitching, and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Angels have interest in right-handers Marcus Stroman and Noah Syndergaard.

Rosenthal notes that the Angels are looking to “significantly” improve a rotation that posted a 4.78 ERA during the 2021 season. Lastly, Rosenthal explains that Angels GM Perry Minasian does have familiarity with Stroman and Syndergaard given that he worked in the Blue Jays organization while both pitchers were there as well.

Stroman, 30, led the major leagues with 33 starts in 2021 and posted a 3.02 ERA in that span for the Mets. Stroman is hitting free agency for the first time after accepting the qualifying offer last year from the Mets.

Syndergaard, 29, has pitched just two innings over the past two seasons. Both of them came as one-inning starts towards the end of the 2021 season with the Mets. The Mets did give Syndergaard the $18.4 million qualifying offer over the weekend, and he has until Nov. 11 to decide whether to accept or decline.
