The New York Mets (12-15) beat the Atlanta Braves (11-15) 16-5 on Wednesday night at SunTrust Park. The win marked the Mets fourth in sixth contests after losing 10 of 11 beforehand.

Pitching

Jacob deGrom (1-1, 2.84 ERA) started for the Mets on Wednesday and had his worst start of 2017. He went a season-low five innings and gave up a season-high five runs to go along with eight hits, five walks, and five strikeouts. Ironically enough the effort was good for a win as the Mets provided him with plenty of run support.

Josh Edgin replaced deGrom after 109 pitches. Edgin pitched a perfect sixth with one strikeout. Addison Reed replicated perfect Edgin’s performance in the seventh.

Fernando Salas worked around an error and a hit to keep the Braves off the board in the eighth.

Josh Smoker finished the game with a 1-2-3 inning and two strikeouts in the ninth.

The Mets scored four more runs in the fifth. Reyes drove in the first run on a sac fly and Rivera followed with a RBI single. After T.J. Rivera doubled, deGrom capped off the inning by driving in two runs on a single.

Reyes took advantage of a two-out, bases-loaded opportunity in the eighth as he cleared the bases with a double to give the Mets a 12-5 lead. Rivera followed with a RBI single then Juan Lagares pinch hit for Reed and drove in a run with a single. Conforto then drove in two more on a double.
