The New York Mets (25-33) fell to the Atlanta Braves (27-32) 3-2 on Friday night at SunTrust Park.

Pitching

Matt Harvey (4-3, 5.43 ERA) looked to rebound from his six-run outing in his previous start. He did just that against the Braves as he went five shutout innings. In those five innings, he gave up four hits and two walks while striking out three. It was the first time in 2017 that he didn’t give up a single run in a start.

Harvey’s biggest struggle was his high pitch count. He had 104 pitches after five innings which prevented him from going deeper into the game. It is now the eighth start out of 12 where he has not gone six innings.

Paul Sewald pitched the sixth inning. He gave up the lead on a double by Dansby Swanson which scored two. After giving up three runs in 20 1/3 innings to start the season, Sewald has now given up seven runs in his last 2 1/3 innings pitched.

Jerry Blevins came in for the seventh inning and had a 1-2-3 inning on eight pitches.

Fernando Salas pitched a scoreless eighth inning and stayed on for the ninth. After getting the first out in the ninth, Swanson hit a ball up the middle and stretched it out into a double on a lazy play by Curtis Granderson.

Josh Edgin relieved Salas and gave up a walk-off single to Rio Ruiz.

Offense

Julio Teheran (5-4, 5.40 ERA) started against the Mets. Curtis Granderson took him deep in the third inning to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. However, the third inning home run was all that the Mets could manage against Teheran in his six innings.

Down 2-1 in the seventh, Travis d’Arnaud hit a solo shot to left field to tie the game.

With Granderson’s home run, he is now one shy from 300 for his career.
