The New York Mets (16-21) were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks (22-18) by a score of 7-3 tonight at Chase Field.
Offense:
The Mets first run came in the second when Rene Rivera drove in a run with single to right.
It wasn’t until the ninth inning when the Mets were able to get back into the run column.
Wilmer Flores chipped in a two-run hone run, but it wouldn’t prove to matter much as the Diamonbacks held on to a four-run lead to win 7-3.
Pitching:
Zack Wheeler toed the rubber for the Amazin’s and was solid, tossing six innings allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out six.
The game was at a 1-1 stalemate until the eighth inning when the Diamondbacks tagged Hansel Robles for five earned runs on the strength of three homers.
On deck:
The Mets will look to sort things out and get back into the win column on Tuesday, as Tommy Milone takes on Zack Greinke.
