The New York Mets (24-30) defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates (25-31) by a score of 4-2 Saturday night at Citi Field.

Pitching

Robert Gsellman got the nod for the Amazin’s on Saturday and battled to turn in yet another solid outing.

The 23-year-old tossed 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, while walking two and striking out one.

Gsellman surrendered a homer to Josh Bell in the third, but was able to stay strong and mitigate the damage the remainder of his outing.

Fernando Salas finished off the sixth and Jerry Blevins followed with a clean seventh before handing the ball off to Addison Reed.

Reed fired two scoreless innings to end the game and seal the win for the Mets, and in the process recorded his eighth save of the year.

Offense

In the bottom of the first, Neil Walker continued mashing against his former team, launching his seventh home run of the season off of Tyler Glasnow.

The entirety of the Mets offense came via the long ball on Saturday, as Jay Bruce and Wilmer Flores each chipped in taters in the third and fourth innings, respectively, to lead the Mets to victory.
