The Mets took the second game of this three game set, defeating the Nationals 5-3 and winning their second straight.

Pitching

Zack Wheeler struggled with command issues on the afternoon but battled for 4.2 innings. He allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits, walked four and struck out four.

Josh Edgin came on in relief of Wheeler and retired the only batter he faced.

Hansel Robles put together another strong outing, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings.

Jerry Blevins struck out the only batter he faced, Bryce Harper on a curveball.

Addison Reed’s struggles continued as he allowed a pair of extra base hits including a solo shot off the bat of Ryan Zimmerman.

Jeurys Familia recorded his first save of the season, securing a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Hitting

Michael Conforto picked up three hits on the day, including a pair of home runs. His second homer, a solo shot in the eighth, came facing a left-hander on a 99 MPH fastball.

Jose Reyes provided the Mets with some insurance in the ninth with a solo shot. He reached base twice, and now has a five game hitting streak.

T.J. Rivera picked up two hits including a double, he is now 4-for-8 this series
