
Before the New York Mets final game of a four-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, manager Terry Collins announced that right-hander Rafael Montero will get the start on Sunday.
Montero will be facing the San Francisco Giants as he takes the injured Zack Wheeler‘s spot in the Mets rotation.
Montero has a 6.49 ERA, 2.089 WHIP in 26.1 innings this year, but does have a 4.27 FIP and 28 strikeouts in that span. He has made two starts in the big leagues this season.
He has been better recently with only two runs allowed on three hits, two walks and eight strikeouts over his last two outings that spans 6.2 innings.
