Rafael Montero has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with what they are saying is “rotator cuff inflammation”

Sandy Alderson and Terry Collins both say that it is “nothing serious.” We’ve heard that before, but I keep my fingers crossed that it really is nothing serious.

Montero was originally set to be sent down to Triple-A Las Vegas after his start Tuesday night in Miami, but that has been rescinded now, as he will be placed on the major league disabled list instead of having his option used and will accumulate major league service time.

In five games for the Mets this season (one started) Montero has pitched 10 innings, allowing nine hits on five earned runs.

In his two starts for the 51’s this year, he pitched 7 and 2/3rd’s innings, with a 5.87 ERA.

It’s never good when a pitcher has shoulder issues. I just hope Montero can rehab it and come back strong and have this just be a minor road bump.
