The New York Mets announced today that catcher Kevin Plawecki and right-handed pitcher Hansel Robles will begin rehab assignments on Wednesday at Triple-A Las Vegas.

Plawecki, 27, appeared in just seven games this year before he was struck on his hand with a pitch in April and sustained a hairline fracture.

Prior to acquiring Devin Mesoraco from the Cincinnati Reds, the Mets were rolling with Tomas Nido and Jose Lobaton behind the dish.

Lobaton has since been outrighted to Triple-A, and when Plawecki returns, Nido appears destined for the West Coast as well.

Robles, 27, was placed on the 10-day disabled list earlier this month with a sprained right knee.

In 10 games for New York this year, Robles has registered a 5.23 ERA and a 2-1 record in 10.1 innings pitched.
