The Mets are finishing off their first week of spring training workouts as they inch closer to playing Grapefruit League games. On Friday, MMO’s own Ed Delany caught some nice shots of the team in action.

In the first picture, new Met Michael Wacha participates in fielding drills while coaches and other pitchers watch on. The right-hander was told he’d be in the starting rotation in 2020, but the signing of Rick Porcello complicates that situation.

Noah Syndergaard warms up in the bullpen alongside other pitchers on the team. Syndergaard is looking to have a bounceback season after registering career-worsts in ERA (4.28), FIP (3.60), WHIP (1.234), ERA+ (95), and BB/9 (2.3).

Jeff McNeil participates in infield drills alongside Luis Guillorme. McNeil is recovering from right wrist surgery this offseason, but has said that he’s healthy. Guillorme will be attempting to make the Mets roster as a reserve infielder.

The recently signed Matt Adams takes grounders at first base. Adams joined the team on a minor league deal giving the Mets some depth at the position between himself, Dominic Smith, and Pete Alonso. It remains to be seen if Adams will start the year with the Mets or in Triple-A Syracuse. He’s been getting work in left field early on as well.

Tim Tebow makes a leaping catch while getting some outfield work in. The former football player will be entering his fourth year of spring training with the Mets. His first season at Triple-A Syracuse ended in August due to a left pinky cut.

Luis Guillorme follows up McNeil with infield drills of his own. The infielder is known for making plays look effortless and Port St. Lucie is the place where he made himself known two years ago with his incredible one-handed, behind-the-back bat catch.
