The Commissioner’s Office announced today that Phillies infielder Freddy Galvis has received a 50-game suspension for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs. The drug of choice was Clostebol, from which the test revealed a metabolite of, resulting in his suspension, effective immediately.
Galvis was batting .226 with 15 doubles and 24 RBIs in 58-games for Philadelphia this year. The 22-year old rookie was placed on the DL recently with a back injury prior to the announcement of his positive test. Galvis took to twitter releasing the following statement:
For those of you who don’t speak Spanish, this translates into:
“Sometimes life isn’t fair… But that’s the way it is… You have to keep moving forward and turn the page.”
Actually Freddy, in this case, life is fair. When you cheat, you get caught and receive a suspension.
Looks like the Phillies can’t even lose honestly.
