The Philadelphia Phillies have gotten more intense in their pursuit of free-agent outfielder Cody Ross, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
Rosenthal adds that other teams have also stepped it up for Ross including the Mariners, Braves and Red Sox.
Ross, 32, batted .267/.326/.481 with 22 home runs in 528 plate appearances for the Red Sox in 2012.
The Mets were interested in Ross as the potential right-handed hitting outfielder with power that the team addressed as one of their offseason goals.
