According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Philadelphia Phillies have acquired two-time All-Star catcher Wilson Ramos from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Joel Sherman reported earlier today that the Phillies were looking for an upgrade behind the plate. Andrew Knapp and rookie Jorge Alfaro have been solid behind the plate, but Ramos takes them to a whole new level.

Ramos is currently on the DL with a hamstring injury, but over 78 games he is hitting .297/.346/.488 with 14 doubles, 14 home runs, 53 RBI’s, and a 132 OPS+, which is the best amongst American League catchers.

In exchange, the Rays will be receiving a player to be named later or cash considerations.
