Mets rookie Noah Syndergaard has some really wild home and road splits  this season. He is a remarkable 7-1 with a 1.82 ERA in nine starts at Citi Field, however in eight starts on the road he is 0-5 with a 5.01 ERA.

In a report by Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal, the younger Mets right-hander is going to make a change to his pregame routine in an effort to improve his performance on the road.

“Every day he’s scheduled to pitch, the Mets’ 22-year-old right-hander stretches, plays catch, and warms up at exactly the same time. He finishes his regimen and heads back to the dugout about 10 minutes before the game—no exceptions,” writes Diamond.

On Wednesday, under the direction of pitching coach Dan Warthen, Syndergaard will tweak his road schedule so it matches that of his teammates. Instead of concluding his warm-ups at 6:55 for a 7:05 game, he will plan it so he wraps up at about 7:05 or 7:07, hoping it will reverse his fortunes.

It’s a small change, but one that everyone hopes will solve any issues that Syndergaard has been having getting physically and mentally prepared for his road starts.

Hopefully this works, and by the way, can you imagine how sick Noah Syndergaard’s numbers would look if he could pitch equally as good on the road as he does at Citi Field?

Scary stuff!
