It is being reported in several sources that Mets General manager, Omar Minaya will soon meet with the ownership group to present his plan for 2008.
We have learned that Omar, will suggest keeping Willie Randolph on as the manager for the 2008 season.
Several reports suggest that the Wilpon’s have told Omar that if he decides to go with Willie Randolph next season, that his fate will be tied to that decision. Apparently the Wilpons have some doubts as to whether Randolph can overcome the problems he faced in the clubhouse, and whether he is the right man for the job.

Mets ownership has ordered Minaya to recommend either the firing or the retaining of Randolph with the proviso that the GM’s job will hinge upon how the decision plays out.
Minaya said yesterday the decision on the manager is his and that he still has autonomy over baseball operations. In that case, it could be World Series or bust for the Minaya/Randolph tandem in 2008. Interestingly, like Randolph, Minaya is signed through 2009, as well.
…To make a long story short… if Willie Randolph fails to deliver in 2008, Omar Minaya will be joining him on the bus ride home…
