Noah Syndergaard has had a frustrating start to his 2019 season, to say the least. The Metropolitan’s powerful right-hander just had been unable to put it all together so far as his on and off struggles continued in a frustrating 9-8 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.

Syndergaard, 26, had a rough night that put his team in an early hole and just kept digging it as the night went on. He allowed six runs on 10 hits while walking one and striking out nine. Noah gave up two home runs in the game as well to both JaCoby Jones and Miguel Cabrera.

Noah spoke after the game in regards to his lack of consistency he has shown thus far in 2019.

“That’s a really good question. I’m not too certain,” Syndergaard said. “I think I have confidence in my routine in between starts, getting really good work in. Just having a tough time mentally putting it all together.” (SNY)

It has been a puzzling season for Noah as with Friday’s loss his record dropped to 3-4 on the season and his ERA rose to a mind-blowing 4.93 with a WHIP of 1.25.

His season has been packed with frustration as he as just been able to put all the pieces to the puzzle together to be the pitcher he has been mostly through his career. No one feels that frustration more than the man himself.

“Pitching’s really freaking annoying sometimes,” Syndergaard said. “It kinda reminds me of my golf swing a little bit. One day you go out there and you feel like you have it figured out, then you go out there the next day and feel like you’re just repeating yourself but not getting the results you want.”

It is hard to believe that these struggles will continue through all of 2019 for Syndergaard as he has also put together some brilliant performances this year. The back and forth between hot and cold starts are bound to stop at some point and the sooner the better for the New York Mets.
