Ahead of tomorrow’s deadline for players to accept qualifying offers, Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that Noah Syndergaard has agreed to a one-year deal worth $21 million with the Los Angeles Angels. Jon Morosi first reported the two were close on a deal.

The Mets had recently extended a one-year $18.4 million qualifying offer to Syndergaard, who will play the 2022 season for a major league team that is not the Mets for the first time in his career. The Mets will get a compensatory pick after the second round due to Syndergaard rejecting the QO and signing elsewhere. They’ll get another if Michael Conforto signs elsewhere, too.

In six seasons with the Mets, Syndergaard is 47-31 with a 3.32 ERA and 1.162 WHIP.

After undergoing Tommy John Surgery in 2020, the righty missed all of the abbreviated 2020 season, while pitching just two innings at the end of 2021.

The Angels, whose 4.69 team ERA ranked 12th of 15th in the American League last season, add desperately needed pitching to instantly upgrade their rotation.
