As per New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway, the timeframe for the return of injured right-hander Noah Syndergaard (right hamstring strain) is still very much undetermined.
Syndergaard, 26, left his June 15 start versus St. Louis in the top of the seventh in obvious discomfort. On June 17, the Texas fireballer was publicly diagnosed with a low-grade hamstring strain.
The big righty threw a bullpen session on Saturday in Chicago, but Callaway still has no answers as to when Syndergaard could be ready to return to baseball activity.
“There’s no timeline. He threw [on Saturday]. We’re going to continue to evaluate what he does next,” Callaway told reporters (video via SNY), but seemed unsure as to whether Syndergaard would need minor league rehab outings, saying, “We’re still trying to figure that out.”
Syndergaard has pitched to a 4.55 ERA and 3.60 FIP with 93 strikeouts, 24 walks, and 1.21 WHIP over 15 starts (95 innings) in 2019.
