New York Mets ace Noah Syndergaard has been cleared to start on Sunday against the Washington Nationals.

He threw a side session before the Mets 7-5 win on Friday and felt great.

Previous Report – April 28, 16:40 PM

Noah Syndergaard threw a side session on Friday afternoon an afterwards said that he “felt great” and “I should have thrown yesterday.”

The Mets ace and Terry Collins will wait to see how he feels after the game to announce his official status for Sunday’s game.

If Syndergaard is unavailable to go, recently recalled Sean Gilmartin would get the start instead.

Original Report – April 27

New York Mets manager Terry Collins announced this morning that right-hander Noah Syndergaard has been scratched from his start against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday, with tendinitis in his right bicep.

However, Syndergaard said it’s also affecting the shoulder region and that he could not lift his arm above his shoulder without soreness.

Syndergaard complained of discomfort in the bicep after his last bullpen session and it bothered him again yesterday while throwing BP according to Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal. He has been taking anti-inflammatories for a few days.

For the second time in a week, Matt Harvey will make an unscheduled start and will take the mound against the Braves this afternoon at 1:10 PM.

Syndergaard could start Sunday when the Mets travel to Washington to play the Nationals. The Mets could also put Syndergaard on the 10-day disabled list and he would be eligible to return on Monday to pitch against the Braves in Atlanta.

“In my opinion, this is very minor,” Syndergaard told reporters. He will undergo an MRI and examination today at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.
