The Division Series started on Tuesday with a full slate of games. The Phillies kicked the day off with a 7-6 win over the Braves after knocking out Atlanta starter Max Fried in the fourth inning. In the second game of the day. the Mariners’ bullpen –including former Met Paul Sewald— blew an early lead and lost on a three-run walk-off homer by Yordan Alvarez.

The last two games of Tuesday had less excitement with the Yankees taking Game 1 from the Guardians by a 4-1 score and the Dodgers beating the Padres 5-3 in the nightcap.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves, 4:35 PM – FOX

Outfielder Nick Castellanos played a big role in the Phillies’ Game 1 win with three hits, knocked in three runs, and a diving catch in the ninth inning.

Travis d’Arnaud got the Braves on the board in the second inning with a home run and Matt Olson brought the score to 7-6 with a three-run home run in the ninth inning.

The Phillies are up 1-0 in the series in a good spot with Zack Wheeler (12-7, 2.82 ERA) getting the start on Wednesday vs Kyle Wright (21-5, 3.19 ERA) for the Braves.

San Diego Padres vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, 8:37 PM – FS1

The Dodgers got out to an early lead on Tuesday when Trea Turner hit a solo home run as the second batter of the game. The Dodgers scored three more runs in the fourth to stretch their lead to 5-0. San Diego came back with three in the fifth, but that was the end of the scoring for the day as the Dodgers bullpen tossed four scoreless innings.

Turner and catcher Will Smith each had two hits for the Dodgers while Jake Cronenworth had two hits for the Padres and Wil Myers hit a solo homer.

Yu Darvish (16-8, 3.10 ERA) gets the start for the Padres coming off seven innings of one-run ball in the Wild Card Series vs the Mets. Future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw (12-3, 2.28 ERA) finished the regular season with a 1.54 ERA in seven starts between September and October.
