In a new report by Anthony DiComo of MLB.com says that recently fired former Orioles GM Dan Duquette is not seen as a candidate for the New York Mets’ general manager vacancy and is not in line for an interview.

The news from DiComo refutes an earlier Thursday report by Mike Puma of the New York Post that the Mets were expected to interview Duquette.

Mike Puma of the New York Post is reporting that the New York Mets are expected to interview former Orioles general manager Dan Duquette for their GM vacancy.

Duquette, 60, was let go by the Orioles earlier this week after the team finished the 2018 season a 47-115 record.

Duquette had been with the Orioles for seven seasons, starting in November of 2011. During Duquette’s first season as the Orioles GM they went from a 69-win team to a 93-win team that went to the playoffs. The Orioles qualified for the playoffs in three of seven seasons under Duquette.

The 60-year-old has worked with four major league teams in their front offices since 1980 when he began with the Brewers. Duquette joins 10-12 others expected to interview for the vacant general manager position.

Dan’s cousin Jim was the Mets GM for the 2004 season.

It was reported earlier on Thursday that former Mets scouting director Gary LaRocque will also interview for Mets GM. Brewers senior adviser Doug Melvin will interview as well as MLB executive Kim Ng.

The interviews for the next GM will be conducted by Jeff Wilpon and John Ricco starting next week.
