Morning Briefing: Wild Card Series All Wrapped Up

What a week full of playoff baseball! With the conclusion of the Padres-Cardinals game, that concludes the 2020 MLB Wild Card Series! 16 teams went in; eight teams stayed in, and eight teams came out.

According to Tim Healey of Newsday the Mets organization is already reaping the rewards of billionaire Steve Cohen. He reported that the Mets’ pandemic paycuts will end come November 1; Full-timers will earn their full salary again. Depending on the salary of the individual the cuts ranged from 5-30 percent.

One artistic Mets fan in @AthleteLogos will no longer be permitted to design Mets or baseball related fan are. MLB considers their work infringement, requesting that they delete all previous designs.

The Division Series games will begin on Monday, October 5.

Jessica Kleinschmidt of NBC Sports reported that the latest MLB coronavirus test results found two positive cases out of the 15,024 samples conducted. The positives were Tier 2 staff members from the same club, and there are no new cases among players.

Kleinschmidt includes that this marks 33 consecutive days of no new player positives.

Jeff Passan of ESPN wrote about the rise of one of baseball’s superstars in Fernando Tatis Jr. and his impact on baseball not only this season, but in the postseason as well.

Cardinals Hall of Famer Bob Gibson tragically passed away at age 84 after a battle with cancer.
