Tim Healey of Newsday reports that Jeff Wilpon spoke to Yoenis Cespedes and others before offering the General Manager position to Brodie Van Wagenen.

The Mets introduced new general manager Brodie Van Wagenen. “We will win now. We will win in the future,” Van Wagenen said during the press conference.

In an interview with Brian Kenny of MLB Network, Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen said he plans to bridge the information gap between the Mets and the top baseball operations clubs.

Mickey Callaway will remain the Mets’ manager under Brodie Van Wagenen.

Jon Morosi of MLB.com reports that the Giants are not prepared to announce their new president of baseball operations or general manager, and a decision could come next week.

Morosi also reports that the Blue Jays are picking up Justin Smoak’s club option for 2019.

CAA Baseball agent Jeff Berry said he thinks J.T. Realmuto “will definitely be wearing a different uniform by the start of spring training,” writes Morosi.

The Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League signed former MLB pitcher Byung-Hyun Kim. Kim, who broke into the league with the Diamondbacks in 1999, has been out of Major League baseball since 2007.

The Minnesota Twins have declined options on Ervin Santana and Logan Morrison.

The Cleveland Indians have exercised their club option on starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco. Cleveland also declined their club option on outfielder Brandon Guyer.

David Robertson writes that he will handle his own representation this winter rather than be represented by an agent. Robertson is coming off a season in which he maintained a 3.23 ERA in 69.2 innings for the Yankees.

According to Sports Illustrated, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ international signing practices are under federal observation.
