Good Morning Mets Fans. The New York Mets will face-off against the Miami Marlins today at First Data Field as Noah Syndergaard makes his third start of the spring. Thor will be opposed by Severino Gonzalez as he comes fresh off a start where he hit 100-MPH on the radar gun for the first time this spring. Today’s game will not be televised, nor able to be heard on WOR, unfortunately.

One of the surprises of this spring has been the resurgence of former top prospect, Rafael Montero. The right-hander has been quite impressive, pitching to a 1.86 ERA over 9.2 innings. He had his biggest challenge of spring thus far on Sunday, as he entered the game with two runners on and allowed a two-run double but was not charged with any runs. Manager, Terry Collins has been pleased with what he has seen from Montero. “I wanted to see how he did in that situation with guys on base and see how he handled it,” Collins said. “[But] he’s been throwing well. Addison Reed has not had the smoothest of springs so far as he allowed six runs in .2 innings pitched this past Friday. Reed and pitching coach, Dan Warthen discovered a “delivery flaw,” that the two worked together to fix on Sunday. “He was leaking out towards first base,” Warthen said. “He fixed it this morning. Not an issue.” Reed is not letting the rough inning get to him in any aspect as he readies himself to be the probable closer as Jeurys Familia readies for a suspension. “The inning doesn’t matter to me,” Reed said. “I think pretty much all of us out there can do the job if needed.” Read more from columnist Kristie Ackert in the NYDN.
Zack Wheeler is having a hard time looking past his prior injuries of the previous two seasons as he hopes to ready himself for the start of the 2017 season. After making his start this past Friday, Wheeler is said to be doing well and continuing to be on track. “How I did the other day reassures me I can get big league guys out. [Saturday] and today my arm feels good, so I am bouncing back,’’ Wheeler said. “That’s big. NL EAST RUMBLINGS
Washington Nationals ace, Max Scherzer took his first big step towards getting back into game action as he threw a simulated game over the weekend. Manager, Dusty Baker spoke on Scherzer’s recovery, “Max tells you a lot in his body language,” Baker said. “I don’t know how pleased he was, but I know he didn’t seem disappointed, which is equally as important. The injury bug has hit the Atlanta Braves a bit this spring as third baseman, Adonis Garcia joins Dansby Swanson on the sidelines. Garcia suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday’s game against the Mets. Manager, Brian Snitker states though that the injury is not too serious. “It wasn’t bad,” Snitker said. “It did tug and it’s kind of that lower hamstring thing so we are just going to make sure.
