Starling Marte continued his strong play in the Dominican Winter League, going 2-for-5 with a stolen base. Additionally, Marte played all nine innings in right field for the third straight day. The 35-year-old is now hitting .367 with an .872 OPS this winter. David Stearns and Carlos Mendoza visited Marte in the Dominican Republic on Sunday as well.

Today is the opening of the International Free Agent signing period. Ben Badler of Baseball America reported in early January that the Mets are expected to sign catcher Yovanny Rodriguez, outfielder Edward Lantigua, and shortstops Raymel Ortiz and Jensy Rivas.

The Florida Complex League Mets begin their season today with January development camps. Among the players invited are Christian Scott, Mike Vasil, Stanley Consuegra, Colin Houck, and Marco Vargas.

The Angels are showing interest in utility man Enrique Hernández, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Hernández endured his second straight rough season, batting .237/.289/.357 (74 OPS+) in 508 plate appearances between the Red Sox and Dodgers in 2023.
