Good morning, Mets fans!

Max Scherzer is set to make his first spring training start in orange and blue this afternoon against the Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium. There isn’t a television feed for this game, but it will be available on the Marlins’ radio network, WINZ. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. The Mets lost in their SNY opener Sunday and are 1-1 this spring training.

The Mets released minor league pitchers Franklin Parra and Liam McCall. Parra was an 11th-round pick by the organization back in 2018. The 22-year-old southpaw pitched to a 4.44 ERA and walked an alarming 81 batters in 93.1 innings across three levels. McCall was a 29th-round pick in 2017, and he also struggled mightily with walks in the minors. He had a 5.69 ERA while issuing 82 walks in 91.2 innings, never making it past A-ball.

Starling Marte told reporters that he is open to playing any outfield position for the Mets this year. The 33-year-old exclusively played center field last season.

Jon Heyman of Audacy reports that the former Rockies shortstop has agreed to play second base for the Red Sox, keeping Xander Bogaerts at shortstop. Utility man Marwin Gonzalez signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees. The 33-year-old had a rough 2021, putting up a .579 OPS while splitting time between Boston and Houston.
