Good morning, Mets fans!

After a series opening win over the Diamondbacks on Monday night, the Mets will return to Chase Field for another late night bout against Arizona in search of their sixth straight win.

Righty Marcus Stroman (4-4, 2.47 ERA) will take the mound for New York as he takes on Arizona southpaw Caleb Smith (2-1, 3.27 ERA). First pitch is set for 9:40 p.m. EST, will be broadcasted on WCBS 880 and WQBU 92.7 and can be watched on SNY.

Let’s get into this morning’s briefing.

Per Rob Piersall of MetsmerizedOnline, lefty David Peterson will start the Mets’ series finale against the D-backs on Wednesday and right-hander Taijuan Walker will take the bump to start a series with the Padres on Thursday. Walker returns after missing the minimum amount of time as he was recovering from tightness in his side.

As Mets pitcher Sam McWilliams has been taken off the 40-man roster, there is a chance that he may elect to be a free agent if New York sends him back to the minors, per SNY‘s Jacob Resnick. This is because he is a Rule 5 pick after he was sent from Kansas City to Tampa Bay in 2018.

Per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, the Mets prospect that the Red Sox are getting via trade is due by the end of this week. Cotillo says that the player will be the best player of the PTBNLs.
