Good morning, Mets fans!

For the second straight season, the Philadelphia Phillies have knocked out the NL East champion Atlanta Braves to advance to the NLCS. Nick Castellanos hit a game-tying solo home run in the fourth inning, then knocked another home run in the sixth that booted Braves starter Spencer Strider from the game in a 3-1 win over Atlanta in Game 4 of the National League Division Series. Castellanos earns the distinction of being the first player to have back-to-back multi-home run games in the postseason, according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com.

The NLCS between Philadelphia and the Arizona Diamondbacks begins Monday at 8 p.m.

On This Date in Mets History

1999 & 2006:

On this date in Mets history, they’ve had two instances of playing NLCS Game Twos, both resulting in losses. In 1999, Kenny Rogers pitched five unsteady but scoreless innings against the Braves. The game took a turn for the worse in the sixth inning. After starting with a ground out by Bret Boone, Rogers allowed a walk, a home run, a single, and another home run, transforming a 2-0 Mets lead into a 4-2 deficit that proved insurmountable.

Fast forward seven years and Carlos Delgado tried to play the hero, single-handedly driving in four runs by sending two of Chris Carpenter‘s offerings over the wall. Sadly, Delgado’s brilliance was in vain as Guillermo Mota and Billy Wagner combined to give up five runs in the last three innings. The pen allowed a game-tying triple to Scott Spiezio with two strikes or a tie-breaking homer to So Taguchi as the Cardinals stormed past the Mets 9-6
