Good morning, Mets fans!

For those that stayed up to watch the whole Mets game last night, they didn’t go to bed disappointed! However, it didn’t come without a little anxiety.

The Mets were staked to a 5-1 lead in the seventh following James McCann‘s first home run of the season, but the bullpen let it slip away.

David Peterson was fantastic, as he threw 5 2/3 innings allowing only one run on three hits, while striking out three. Drew Smith got his one out in the sixth, and then things fell apart. Chasen Shreve was charged with a run on two hits. Trevor May allowed two runs on two hits, and Edwin Diaz allowed a game-tying homer to Daulton Varsho with two-out in the ninth.

Starling Marte legged out an RBI infield single in the top of the 10th to get the Mets a 6-5 lead, which Seth Lugo held in the bottom half of the frame.

Liz Evangelou provided a further breakdown of the game.

The two will meet again for the second game of the series Saturday for an 8:10 ET start. Trevor Williams will get the ball for the Mets, and Humberto Castellanos does the pitching for the Dbacks.
