Good morning Mets fans! Matt Harvey makes his season debut tonight at Citi Field against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Yesterday, the Mets dropped the series finale to the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 5-1.

Steven Matz started for the Mets, and labored through four innings. Matz’s velocity sat in the 93-94 mph range, and his control was shaky. In his four innings he allowed three runs on four hits, and three walks while striking out four batters.

The Mets had their share of base runners but never capitalized on their chances. Amed Rosario drove in the Mets only run of the game with a two out RBI single in the second. Juan Lagares made his second start of the season and went 3-for-5 with a trio of singles.

Michael Conforto traveled to New York, and is expected to face Jason Vargas in a simulated game today. It has been deemed possible that Conforto will return in time for the Nationals series beginning on Thursday, which is also the day he is eligible to be activated from the DL.

Mets pitchers have set a new franchise record with 35 strikeouts through the first three games to start a season. The previous record was 32 strikeouts set by the 2005 Mets pitching staff.
