According to Andy Martino of SNY, the Mets are talking with Luke Voit about a minor league deal with an invite to spring training camp.

Voit posted a 1.058 OPS in 37 games for Triple-A Syracuse last year, but only a .548 OPS in 74 major league games with the Brewers.

Pete Alonso announced that he and the Alonso Foundation are going to donate $1,000 to animal shelters for every home run he hits in 2024.

“We’re going to be trying to  tackle the issue of getting animals out of kill shelters,” Alonso said. He said they’ll be paying for transports, toys, support, beds, blankets, and items and necessary means that are needed to get animals out of kill shelters.

Per Andrew Golden of The Washington Post, the Washington Nationals have signed starting pitcher Zach Davies to a minor league invite and given him an invite to major league spring training. Golden, 31 years old, spent the last two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks and has a career 4.36 ERA over the course of nine seasons.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, outfielder Randal Grichuk and the Arizona Diamondbacks are in agreement on a one-year contract worth $2 million. It includes a mutual option for 2025. Grichuk will get $1.5 million this year and has a $6 million option with $5,000 buyout and performance bonuses.

Robert Murray of FanSided reported on Saturday that free agent pitcher Chase Anderson is in agreement on a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates. It includes an invite to major league spring training.

Per Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Kansas City Royals are acquiring right-handed relief pitcher John Schreiber from the Boston Red Sox for minor league right-handed pitcher David Sandlin.
