Good Morning Mets Fans. The New York Mets (30-34) open up a huge four-game set against the first place Washington Nationals (39-26) tonight as they send Robert Gsellman (5-3, 4.95 ERA) to the mound. The Nats will counter with Gio Gonzalez (5-1, 2.91 ERA) in the opening game.

The 300th home run of Curtis Granderson‘s Major League career could not have come at a better time, helping to bail out Matt Harvey and propel the Mets to a big 9-4 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night to take the series. Read more from Howie Kussoy in the NY Post.

Harvey had a rough night, lasting just four innings while allowing four runs on four hits. He complained of arm fatigue after the game as his velocity sat in the mid-to-hight 80’s. Just another concern for the boys from Queens as reported on by Laura Albanese in Newsday.

Neil Walker became the latest position player to leave a game injured after coming up lame when attempting to beat out a bunt for base hit.
