Good morning, Mets fans. It all comes down to Game 162!
The Mets beat the Marlins 5-0 on Saturday to stay alive until the last day of the regular season. Clay Holmes pitched six one-hit innings, and Pete Alonso homered.
But the Reds also won later on Saturday. They beat the Brewers 7-4, riding a six-run third inning. They remain tied with the Mets for the third Wild Card spot, while owning the tiebreaker.
For the Mets to make postseason, it’s simple. The Mets need to win today, and the Reds need to lose. Both things have to happen — otherwise, this is the last day of baseball for the Mets in 2025.
All MLB teams play at around 3 p.m. ET today. The Mets will be starting Sean Manaea (2-4, 5.80 ERA) against the Marlins’ Edward Cabrera (7-7, 3.66 ERA). The Reds, at the exact same time, have Brady Singer (14-11, 3.95 ERA) going against the Brewers’ Freddy Peralta (17-6, 2.68 ERA.
