Morning Briefing: Mets Maintain Position in Wild Card Race

On Friday, the Mets defeated the Reds by a score of 8-1 in their first of their three-game series. Jacob deGrom had another sparkling outing, pitching seven scoreless innings and collecting nine strikeouts.

Pete Alonso became the first Met and just second rookie in baseball history to hit 50 home runs. Amed Rosario and Jeff McNeil also went deep in the game to help carry the offense.
